happy halloweenie!

it was a quick week, and I'm so thankful that the weekend is finally here. not too many big things on the schedule because i'm still catching up on sleep!!

things on my radar for the weekend:

4. i can't wait for thanksgiving. it's not even really my thing, i don't love thanksgiving food, but i do love being around my family and friends & it's so nice to have a break from school.

#krgoesglobal

Hey, welcome back to withasunnyside!

I hope that you're slowly recovering and catching up on sleep from a crazy, busy homecoming weekend. I know, I'm still struggling with catching up on sleep! I've told you probably a hundred times how much I love homecoming, but I'm gonna wrap it up in this post…

Top 5 Reasons I Love Hoco:

1. I love to dress up. For a girl who wears a uniform everyday, getting dressed up and dolled up is something that is golden for me. I like to see everyone else all dressed up, I like to check out other girls dresses. So fun to see different personalities in everyones outfits. Boys look super nice on hoco night, very different from the everyday life.

Look at these girls, tell me they don't look awesome!! Favorite memories for sure…

2. I like being apart of homecoming, the set up, the week leading up to it, and the week after. It's so fun to be on student government and set up and be so excited about this event. It's awesome to hear what everyone has to say about homecoming, mostly when they say they love it!!

3. I'm obsessed with photos if you can't tell. The photo booth is clearly one of my favorites at the dance.  I like the memory of being able to take the photo strip home. It's super fun to grab props and go in to the booth and snap some pics. I also love taking pics before. Super fun for sure!

4. I like the feeling of having a small school at a dance like homecoming. It's so funny to me that regardless of how big we make the dance floor, the people and the party will always rush to the middle.

5. This is sorta funny to me because leading up to the dance I was super nervous about flying solo, it was awkward to me when people asked about dates and all that, I was worried about awkward pics, all the stuff a girl whose had a date would be worried about. Let me tell you, dateless is a super fun option.  I had a blast. Kenna, Will, and I kinda joked leading up to it that I would go to hoco with them, it was super fun to hangout with them, but lots of other gals to hang with. You should always know that solo is super fun.

I know I only said I had 5 reasons but I had to have this 6th.

6. I was so happy my best friend was back from Parkland this weekend to celebrate hoco together. The first year that the dynamic duo didn't take on homecoming together. Super sad we didn't dance the night away together, but I was super thankful Mal was here. Loved laughing with you this weekend. Miss your morning snuggles already. Xo.

Tiger Pride

Hey all you tiger fans…

Nothing makes me more angry then people who have absolutely no school spirit. I'd like to think that I have school spirit. Being on student government has a lot to do with the fact that I go to games on Friday night and get pumped about things like homecoming week.

School spirit really starts during football season.. I don't really understand why you wouldn't go to a game on Friday night where ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS are. It's so lame to sit at home all of football season and never go to a game. I love all types of football in the fall and wouldn't miss an opportunity to cheer on the Tigers. I know this is something that the players appreciate, the fans showing up! Regardless of the football team at our school, win or loose, you have chosen to be a Tiger fan because of the school you go to, you owe it to the boys who bust their butts out there to be there and cheer them on regardless of the outcome. I realize sometimes you have other commitments and just want to stay home, but at some point you have to remember that Netflix will be there every Friday night and eventually Friday Night Football won't be.

From a student government perspective, it's awesome to have people show up at your events, but over the years I've also learned that there will be some things that aren't hits among the student body. I've also learned that if you never try then you'll never know. Nothing is more rewarding after the events than people telling us the event was awesome but if you're truly unsatisfied at the dance or 5th quarter keep your mouth shut.  If you can't give constructive criticism than you should be smart about what you say because at some point it's rude. You should show up at things like homecoming, it's fun time with your friends. Unlike some other schools, Homecoming is a big deal at King's Ridge, it's a lot of handwork to put on a homecoming like we do. You're missing out on years you can never get back.

On the homecoming trend… Also, dress up for homecoming week! If there is one regret I have from the past two years, it's not going all out for homecoming week. It's something I wish KR kids actually did. Wearing jeans and a shirt (BOYS) is so uncool. I don't get why you wouldn't dress up… if you think it's weird and no one else does it, EVERYONE ELSE DOES. Don't you feel lame when you walk in and everyone is dressed up and you aren't??

Above all, it just irritates me when people talk crap about things like homecoming or stuff like that, but don't even show up to see what it's like. I can promise you that if you come in with an open mind, wanting to have fun than you will.

I know exactly what you're thinking because I would be thinking it to, that you don' t even care that these things upset me. But, if there is one thing I think most people wish they could tell their high school self, it would be to LOVE high school. The four years you spend having fun at homecomings and games and making friends are years you can never replace or redo. In order to love high school, you have to help yourself. I want you to love high school like I do, get involved and go to events with an open mind of having fun. I promise if you show up and expect to have a great time than you will…

Lifestyle Faves

1. I loove to shop. If shopping could be a sport I'm pretty sure I could win everytime. Although even in my favorite stores I still have strikeouts. Altar'd State at the Avenues is soo nice. The people who work there are the bomb, always so nice, I seriously want to buy everything in the store. If you've never been, say goodbye to all the money in your wallet and hello to a new closet

2. I've been patiently awaiting the arrival of my first BirchBox. I heard about this company through Benefit. You go online and pay $10 a month to get 5 high end sample products. I can't wait to test out these products. They include a hand cream from Camille Beckmann, Costal Scents eyeshadown, Dr. Lipp Balm, a Tocca Perfum, and a Vasanti Cosmetics face mask! Boys, they have these for you too!! You even customize your box based on your likings.

3. Another fave this week is my Thursdays. I love Friday trust me, but if I had to pick another favorite day it would be Thursday. During the afternoon, I spend 30 minutes with little baby kindergarteners during PE. They are so cute and I love spending time with them!

4. I love the freestyle Coke machines. This one is at Five Guys. I would stay the whole day there just to drink a few of the options, there is hundreds!!

5. We've been renovating our house since June, and I'm so enjoying finally having a couch to sit on. I love my new house! PS, we have hung our TV since this pano.

Weekend Recap

Hey y'all

Sorry I was MIA on Friday, it was a super busy day and I didn't wanna rush on a sloppy post. So, here I am reporting back with a weekend recap!

Friday:

I headed to West for a really good friend of mine's homecoming court. Caroline was a freshman representative! So cool to see her all dolled up. Public school on Friday night is very different than KR

Saturday:

My two sisters left me home alone for the long weekend, so it was a super fun time to hangout with mom. We cheered on our Georgia Bulldogs together. I spent the night babysitting.

Sunday:

Sunday night I was back at InsideOut, everytime I skip a week or two and then go back I'm reminded why I love it so much. I headed to hangout with Lucy after. We were so excited to have Julia and Taylor back from Samford for the weekend. We spent the night eating cookie dough and catching up. Time apart from those two makes me realize how much I appreciate time with them!

Monday: I was so thankful for this day off, I've been super tired recently, especially with the rainy weather. I was happy to be able to just hangout. I spent the day babysitting but we went to see Dolphin Tale 2 at the AMC at North Point Mall. The recliner chairs at that theatre are the ish. The movie was super cute too. I'm glad to have had this long weekend to catch up on some sleep.

I also had a song favorite for the weekend, check out My Lighthouse by Rend Collective.

Homecoming Houligans..

Welcome back yall,

It's homecoming season!

I hope everyone is excited about homecoming week and the dance. It's an eventful week in the school year. I hope that you're all encouraged to go all out when we go around the world!

All Around the World….

Monday: Throwdown from your Hometown

Have fun yall, rep your hometown. Whether you're from Texas or Italy, make sure we know where your origins are! Hometowns and backgrounds are one of the coolest features about people.

What to wear: Be festive. A classic outfit would be a tshirt from your hometown sports teams. Texas natives, whip out your cowboy boots! Pick american icons, like Lady Liberty or Uncle Sam!

Don't wear the flag, it's not a thing.

Tuesday: Tropical Tuesday

Potentially my fave day of the week. Who doesn't love the beach!

What to wear: A hula skirt and hawaiian shirt if you're looking for a more classic tropical look. If you wanna be funny, whip out your fanny pack and bermuda shorts and go as a tacky tourist!

King's Ridge Students, make sure you cover up! Coconut bras are not allowed!

Thursday: Tribal Thursday

Although this seems like a difficult day to dress for, you can interpret the theme however you choose! For me, I'll probably pick the safari route.

What to wear: Prints, there is all kinds from cheetah to zebra stripes! Paint up your arms and and go tribal.

Friday: Storm the Stadium

Show us your Tiger Pride!!

What to wear: Storm the Stadium homecoming T-shirts!

Students, you don't want your teachers to out do for the week. We all know Mr. Arnold will be wearing a different bow tie depending on the day. You don't want his bow ties to be better than your outfits!

For the dance…

Get ready to experience London in Alpharetta!

Boys, go ahead and buy the ticket for your hot date. Hello, being a gentleman is still a thing! Who said chivalry is dead?

Friday Faves: Reasons to Love October

Hey, welcome back to withasunnyside!

I know a normal list of things I liked throughout the week is boring, I've been trying to switch up Friday Faves. I wanted to share my October upcoming faves with you. Obviously since the month has barely started, I don't have any favorites, but I do have a couple things coming up in October that I love.

1. The Cumming Fair- The Fair takes place at the Cumming Fairgrounds from October 2nd to the 12th. If you've never been before, you should check it out this year. The admission for students is $3, it would be the perfect place to hangout with friends. They have everything you could want from sky buckets to a ferris wheel, to funnel cakes. You would't want to miss the seasonal event!

2. Homecoming!! I love homecoming, I like to dress up and spend the night with friends. From a student government perspective, it's stressful. All of the hard work pays off on the night of the dance when everyone is satisfied with the dance. If you're a KR Kid and not planning on attending homecoming, you're lame. It will be blast. Show up and have some fun! We'd love to have you :)

3. Pumpkins- Who doesn't like carving pumpkins? Truthfully, I hate it. I don't like sticking my hands in slimy pumpkin insides, but  I do love the way they look all lit up and carved leading up to Halloween. What ideas to you have for your pumpkins this year??

4. Halloween Oreos are the bomb. The taste heavenly. What other way to be festive than eat something that's orange!! The only downside of these yummy cookies is that they don't come double stuffed. Is it even an Oreo if it's not double stuffed??

5. Uncle Shucks- This seasonal venue is located in Dawsonville, Ga. It has the most fall activities in the same place. Not only can you do the corn maze or the haunted corn maze, but also go to the pumpkin patch, go on a hayride, and hangout at the bonfire. A quick 45 minute drive and you're ready for fall fun.

6. Such a side note, but what other reason is there to love this October besides Taylor Swift releasing her new, 1989, album on October 27. Get pumped guys!

I hope your October is filled with fun whether it be pumpkin picking or Homecoming. Enjoy October!
